Time in nature, sun and fresh air can feel wonderful. Many people also find that naturism helps them feel more body confident. Here are some practical tips. This is general information, not medical advice.

Sun safety

The South African sun is strong. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher on all exposed skin, and reapply often, especially after swimming. Areas that rarely see the sun burn quickly. Seek shade between 10:00 and 15:00, and wear a hat and sunglasses.

Stay hydrated

Drink water regularly, particularly on warm bushveld days.

Insects and plants

Use insect repellent and wear sandals on paths and in grass.

Body confidence

Naturist communities welcome every body shape, age and ability. Comparison fades quickly when everyone is simply relaxing.

Look after yourself

If you have a health condition, follow your doctor’s advice about sun exposure and activity.
